There are standard rates for film, video and photography shoots as well as corporate events and weddings, but the fees vary based on your usage and the scale and complications of your shoot or event. Please send us details and we’ll reply with a quote.
Is the studio I want available for my date(s)?
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you’re not certain which space is best for you provide some details and we’ll offer a suggestion. You can also arrange a site visit.
How far ahead do I need to book the loft?
Some dates get booked a year or more ahead and others remain available. Let us know when you have a likely date and we can put the studio on “hold” for you. If you’re the 1st person asking for that date you will get a ‘first hold’. If there is already a hold then we can offer you a ‘second hold’. In that case, once you are ready to confirm the booking you can challenge the 1st hold. If they aren’t ready to book then it goes to you.
What if I have a 1st hold and someone else is ready to confirm?
With a 1st hold you have the right of first refusal and the option to book the studio, but if you aren’t ready to confirm when another client challenges your hold then the other client may go ahead and book the date. There is no set period of time before you’d need to give us an answer, however, the closer to the date in question the shorter that time period will be. Typically you will have 24 hours.
Do the studios come as pictured on the website?
The studio’s include the furnishings and props, BUT, they are used frequently by large, complicated shoots and events that rearrange the spaces and move items between studios. At night we clean and restore everything, but items do occasionally get damaged or disappear. The website images may have been taken a year or more ago and there will likely be small changes. Also, please note that the White floors in the Penthouse and Brooklyn 1st Floor are painted numerous times per year, but they begin to get scuffed and are less pristine and White beginning the day after they’re painted. It’s best to scout the studios in person before booking.
May we: hang pictures on the walls; chandeliers from the ceiling ; paint the walls or floor; move or remove your furniture and bring in our own; bring dogs, cats, goats, snakes, pony’s, parrots, kangaroos, mermaids, etc.; place decals on the floor; add lighting; move the bathtub, refrigerator and stove; build a stage; film from across the street; film overnight; rent the Roof for 1 hour to propose to my girlfriend; etc.?
The answer to all of those questions has been yes, but in every case it depends on your ability to not damage the loft and to restore the space to how you found it. Booking the roof for a short period of time at a reduced hourly rate usually requires waiting until the day or two before to confirm.
Do you offer discounts?
Discounts are sometimes possible but vary based on the size and nature of your booking. The best discounts are if you want to book an available studio for the next day. If requesting a discounted rate, to give you an accurate quote we’ll need to know the purpose of the rental, the total number of people who will be attending, amount of equipment, expected hours, who the project is for, if it’s a film or video or still photography shoot and will you be recording sound, as well as any other potential complications.
